President George W. Bush Our American President
By
Lisa Sarrach and Kevin Fobbs
President Bush
needs a Michael Douglas moment. At the end of the movie, The American
President, democratic president, Andrew Sheppard, shows up unexpectedly
in the White House press room to answer the charges against his character
launched at him by his Republican rival and an overeager press corp. The
character charges involved his relationship with a lobbyist he had been
dating as a widowed father of a 12 year old girl. Engaging in platitudes
about an anti-crime bill vs. an environmental bill that his girlfriend was
trying to get passed, notwithstanding, he took on his critics point-blank
over the sullying of his relationship with this woman, the second one he
loved in his life, and said He was so busying trying to keep his job, I

Responds to Overreaching By Critics of /Hollywood
There has been much written and talked about
on the web in the last week or so about /Hollywood, boycotts and the state of
free speech as it relates to the /Hollywood community, our college campuses and
the war in Iraq and against terrorism.
HERO itself wrote the editorial below in response to a column in the Detroit
News last week. However, we think its time for cooler heads to prevail and to
take a step back for a second.
HERO has on its home page a list of past /Hollywood-Heroes who have served this
country with distinction in our past wars or are true humanitarians like Bob
Hope and John Wayne. We received an email the other day asking us to take off
James Whitmore from our list because he signed a statement created by Artists
United to Win without War. James Whitmore served his country with honor and HERO
will not be taking his name off our past HERO list.

5-24-03 - /Hollywood and the
supposed boycotts that have pundits all up in arms
By Lisa Sarrach President
There have been
scores of columns written in the past month or so by pundits and activists
showing their collective disgust and outrage over the treatment of the Dixie
Chicks and more recently Danny Glover, harkening back to the time of the
McCarthy Era and blacklisting.
Just last
Thursday, the Detroit News own Laura Berman displayed her outrage at the new
supposed /Hollywood blacklist being compiled by high-tech bullies who want to
drum up ratings and drown out dissent.
