- This week's Hall of Fame and Shame
Awards
And the winners and losers are:
Hall of Fame -
Dennis Franz of NYPD Blue for
these comments:
"Have these people (protesters) forgotten what happen on Sept. 11?" Franz
wondered. "Don't they remember all those people - the women, the children - on
those planes who were non-deserving of having their lives taken from them?
"Freedom - the same freedom that allows them to protest - doesn't come
easy. There are times when you have to stand up and prove yourself to the rest
of the world, that we will defend our way of life.
"I back our president all the way. Let's face it - there are just some
evil people in the world and they have to be dealt with."
An honorable mention to Steve Martin for the
Hall of Fame for cracking this joke after Michael
Moore's acceptance speech: "that's so sweet, backstage the Teamsters are
helping Michael Moore into the trunk of his limo" and for dedicating the Oscar
broadcast to the soldiers overseas.
Hall of Shame -
Michael Moore - For his, not
surprising, but thoroughly despicable acceptance speech during the Oscars
broadcast last night:
On behalf of our producers Kathleen Glynn and
Michael Donovan from Canada, I'd like to thank the Academy for this.
I have invited my fellow documentary nominees
on the stage with us, and we would like to — they're here in solidarity with
me because we like nonfiction.
We like nonfiction and we live in fictitious
times.
We live in the time where we have fictitious
election results that elects a fictitious president.
We live in a time where we have a man sending
us to war for fictitious reasons.
Whether it's the fictition of duct tape or
fictition of orange alerts we are against this war, Mr. Bush.
Shame on you, Mr. Bush, shame on you.
And any time you got the Pope and the Dixie
Chicks against you, your time is up.
Thank you very much.
03-23-03
- We were beginning to think that we wouldn't have a nominee for
this week's Hall of Fame Award, as there was no new
news from Hollywood in support of the president. Today from
www.thestate.com,
we've been given a reprieve. Dennis Franz's, star of NYPD Blue, views were
expressed in this article from The State:
One thing is certain. "NYPD Blue" hasn't reached that point yet. One reason
audiences keep coming back is the series manages to remain topical.
That was never more evident than the first episode of the 2001-02 season.
Airing less than two months after the Sept. 11 terrorists attacks on the World
Trade Center, the episode featured a poignant scene in which Sipowicz somberly
gazes on the spot where the twin towers once stood.
It's a moment Franz vividly remembers, and he said it makes it difficult for
him to understand the protests against war with Iraq.
There you have Andy Sipowicz and Dennis Franz - both gunning for the bad
guys.

03-20-03 -
HERO has thus far not mentioned Michael
Moore as a potential nominee for its weekly Hall of Shame, mainly because
he's so far removed from reality in his views, it hardly seemed worth the
effort. However, his latest salvo published in Britain, not here, is so
beyond the pale, that it cannot be ignored. It's also worth noting that
Oprah Winfrey gave this guy a potent forum for his
views on her show on Monday. Click here

03-17-03 -
And the winners and losers are for week ending 3-16-03:
Hollywood-Hero Hall of Fame -
Ron Silver
- for his elegant and well-informed debate performance
with Bill Maher on CNN
Hollywood-Hero Hall of Shame -
Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks
- for her despicable comments abroad about President Bush
Nominations are now opened for this week,

Past winners and losers
03-15-03
It's time to tally the votes for the first
weekly Hollywood-Hero Hall of Fame and
Hollywood-Hero Hall of Shame award. We'll
announce the winner tomorrow evening. We're limiting the finalists to newsmakers
from this week.
And the finalists are:
Hollywood-Hero Hall of Shame
Award for March 16th
-
Natalie Maines of the Dixie
Chicks - For her despicable comment disparaging President
Bush on foreign soil ("Just
so you know, we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas.")
and then issuing an apology only after threats of boycotts from
outraged citizens and country radio stations
-
Jessica Lange
- Ms. Lange's media blitz this week included delivering a
petition to the U.N., appearing on David Letterman with guest host
Whoopi
Goldberg (who should get a dishonorable mention for
her comment during the monologue: Goldberg joked that the world was much safer
when the president was getting laid--meaning when Clinton was in the Oval
Office) and appearing on the Charlie Rose Show lamenting why people are calling
her anti-American and not understanding where that feeling comes from, when she
is just expressing her opinion as is her right in a democracy.
To remind everyone - this is why people have a problem with
Ms. Lange: She stated at an
awards show in Spain
last year: "I
HATE BUSH. I despise him and his entire administration — not only because of its
international policy, but also the national, It makes me feel ashamed to come
from the United States — it is humiliating. Bush stole the elections and
since then we have all been suffering the consequences.”
-
Rob Reiner
-
Mr. Reiner called President Bush an evil man for wanting to bring war to a
little country that hasn't harmed us during an appearance on the TV Land's award
show being repeated tonight at 8:00 p.m.
-
Bill Maher
- Mr. Maher who lost the
debate with actor Ron Silver on Wolf Blitzer's CNN show
Hollywood Hero Hall of Fame
Award for March 16th
-
Ron Silver
- who won the debate with Bill Maher and has shown remarkable intelligence,
skill and a keen grasp of the issues in sparring with the Hollywood Left and
exposing their hypocrisy as it relates to their views when a Republican
administration is in charge versus their stance when President Clinton was in
office
-
Dennis Miller -
Who has been all over the airwaves from Bill O'Reilly to Bill Maher's HBO show
debating the Left with class and humor. Check out this little cheat sheet
he wrote to help people better understand the issues. It's quite
funny
-
John Travolta -
Who said on Fox News this week that he trusts that the president knows more than
he does and he trusts him to make the right decisions.
-
Rob Lowe - Who
stated on Fox News that no matter what side of the issue you take as to the war,
it's vital for all Americans to support our troops; the troops who protect and
defend our freedoms.
