Do You Remember when
Hollywood was on our side?

"During other periods of our history when
America had to defend our allies or ourselves, such as World War II,
Hollywood heroes such as
Clark Gable, Jimmy Stewart, Gary Cooper, Glenn Ford, Henry Fonda and Elvis
Presley, Charles Bronson, Lee Marvin among
others, donned our nation’s uniform and served their country with pride.
They put their careers on hold to defend our country and our freedoms."

Bruce Willis offers $1 million to the soldier who gets Saddam!
Hot Flash - American
Enterprise Online
By Marni Soupcoff
Yippee-Kay-Ay, Saddam!
There hasn’t been much to smile about in Iraq, lately. The war is over, but
Allied troops keep getting picked off in terrorist attacks, Saddam remains at
large, and the one sunny point of comic relief during the war—Iraqi information
minister Muhammed Saeed al-Sahaf, AKA Baghdad Bob—has ceased making ludicrously
inaccurate pronouncements.
All the more thanks are due, then, to action hero Bruce Willis who is now in
Iraq, entertaining U.S. soldiers with his band, the Accelerator, and elevating
spirits. I don’t know what kind of musician Bruce is (one hopes better than most
movie stars who head up bands), but it doesn’t really matter. The point is that
he’s there, and he’s saying all the right things.

Drew
Carey Entertains The Troops
Iraq's Drew Carey show
By Cesar G. Soriano, USA TODAY
BAGHDAD, Iraq — On the same day United Nations officials flew out of Baghdad,
Drew Carey flew in Friday, commanding a company of comedians on a mission to
entertain U.S. troops.
Comedian Drew Carey dance with soldiers during a show for U.S. forces based in
Iraq.
By Karel Prinsloo, AP
"I love Baghdad," Carey said. "You have camels, bugs and everything's served up
with a big dirty glass of water. Sorry. If there's any locals here tonight, I'm
just joking around. We're very grateful for all the hospitality you've shown,"
he said sarcastically.
Baghdad's Convention Center was transformed into the most heavily armed comedy
club in the world Friday night for nearly 2,000 U.S. troops. Earlier Friday, the
U.N. began downsizing its staff because of recent bombings in Iraq's capital.
But that didn't scare away Carey and five other comedians including Kathy
Kinney, who plays Mimi on The Drew Carey Show. Many of the jokes poked fun at
the hardships U.S. troops are facing in Iraq.
Carey, a longtime supporter of the USO, chatted about his recent Lasik eye
surgery and his 2001 heart surgery. "I had an angioplasty and a stent. The same
thing that Dick Cheney had, only they left my heart in."
