Update -
Attention
Hollywood-Hero
Fans!!
Mission Accomplished! CBS has
pulled "The Reagans" from the schedule! It's unclear whether or not they
will attempt to air the movie on Showtime, so for the time being let's keep the
letter campaign going. See story below.

LATE BREAKING NEWS FLASH!
11-04-03 - CBS pulls 'Reagans'
miniseries!!
The Hollywood Reporter
By Scott Collins and Cynthia Littleton
Following a storm of protest, CBS has yanked its sweep miniseries "The Reagans,"
a controversial four-hour glimpse of the 40th president and his family, sources
close to the production said.
CBS chief Leslie Moonves made the decision after concluding that the film was
unfair to the Reagans and that even extensive edits had not produced an
acceptably balanced portrayal. The only question that remains is whether the
miniseries will be picked up by the cable net Showtime -- like CBS, a unit of
Viacom -- or shelved entirely, sources said.
The miniseries was scheduled to bow Nov. 16 on CBS.
"The Reagans," executive produced by Neil Meron and Craig Zadan ("Chicago"), has
been vehemently attacked by critics who complained that early drafts of scripts
leaked to the press have included scenes with little or no basis in historical
fact. At least one version of the script reportedly included material suggesting
that President Reagan suffered from Alzheimer's disease as early as 1984 and
refused to help AIDS victims because of their "sins."
From Reuters:
11-03-03
- CBS Mulls Canceling Reagan Mini-Series - Report
LOS ANGELES (Reuters)
- CBS is considering canceling or
postponing its upcoming mini-series "The Reagans" under mounting Republican
criticism that the production inaccurately depicts the former president and his
wife, Daily Variety reported on Monday.
Also, the director of the four-hour TV movie, Robert Allan Ackerman, has quit
the production over creative differences with CBS executives who have insisted
on numerous last-minute alterations to the mini-series, the Hollywood trade
paper said.
Depending on the nature of the final cuts, Ackerman may ask the Directors Guild
of America to remove his name from the movie in protest, Variety said.
Neither producers for the two-part film, slated to air Nov. 16 and 18, nor
Ackerman's representative, could immediately be reached for comment.

STREISAND DRAWS DISTANCE FROM
'REAGANS'; CBS CONSIDERS NEWS SUPPLEMENT; MORE SCENES REVEALED
**Exclusive Details**
SingerActorDirectorProducerMotherActivist Barbra Streisand this weekend
distanced herself from any involvement in CBS-TV's upcoming film THE REAGANS,
although the film stars her husband and is being produced by Streisand frequent
collaborators, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron.
"Ms. Streisand has never even read the script!" Streisand declared on her
website's Truth Alert [leading readers to believe that she first became aware of
multiple, specific script scenes from the DRUDGE REPORT.]
Controversy continues to swirl around the movie, set for air later this month,
with CBS now considering a "news supplement" addition tagged to the end of the
two-part film, to both fill time from late edits made to the project, and to
cool cries of heavy-handed political bias at the network.
Meanwhile, Reagan daughter Patty Davis is considering a public comment of
concern over liberties taken by CBS in telling the story of Ronald and Nancy
Reagan.

10-31-03 - The
RNC launches
website to support President Reagan, sends letter to CBS and plans ad campaign.
Ed
Gillespie, chairman of the RNC, in a conference call with reporters today, read
a letter he has sent to CBS president Leslie Moonves that says in part that the
program should be reviewed by a historical panel for accuracy and people who
actually knew President and Mrs. Reagan.
He also
requested a disclaimer to be run, if the network refuses to make the program
available to historians or to make any changes to the content that are
inaccurate and not factual.
The
website is
www.supportreagan.com.
They have a copy of the letter posted. In the next few days, they will
have tapes and DVD's available for purchase on the "Real Reagans" and are
encouraging people to hold Reagan parties and watch these videos that evening.
WE, at
Hollywood-Hero support this effort and will keep you posted on the RNC campaign
as well as our campaign with our
protest letter.
Keep up the great work
everyone, our efforts are getting attention!

EX-FIRST LADY 'HURT' BY TV
MINISERIES
New York Post-October 30,
2003 -- Nancy Reagan is in anguish over CBS's upcoming
miniseries, "The Reagans," says her close friend, TV titan Merv Griffin.
"I talk
to her quite often," Griffin said Tuesday on Keith Olbermann's MSNBC talk show.
"She's hurt.
"Here is a man who is on his deathbed. He's in the last stages of Alzheimers,"
Griffin said of Ronald Reagan, 92, "and a woman who has been sitting by the
bedside there holding his hand for nine years.
"They can't fight back."
The news that the former first lady, 82, is devastated by the portrayals adds
fuel to the firestorm over the two-part saga. Scheduled to air Sunday, Nov. 16,
and Tuesday, Nov. 18, on CBS, the movie stars James Brolin, husband of liberal
Hollywood firebrand Barbra Streisand, as Ronald Reagan, and Australian-born
actress Judy Davis as Nancy.
The project has been widely condemned by supporters of the former president and
his wife. The protests have been sparked by published reports that the
miniseries portrays President Reagan, among other things, as callously
unconcerned with AIDS as it became an epidemic.
The miniseries quotes him as saying of the mainly gay AIDS victims at the time,
"They that live in sin shall die in sin," a statement the miniseries'
screenwriter, Elizabeth Egloff, acknowledges he never said.
10-28-03 - Les Moonves of
CBS, under fire for the disgusting, vile take of the Reagans his network is
airing in November is already talking edits and states: "...
"We've looked at the
rough cut, there are things we like . . . there are things we don't like . . .
there are things we think go too far."
Liz
Smith (usually no friend to conservatives) of the New York Post
had the scoop:
When
Tina corners Les over the coming Reagan miniseries "The Reagans," she notes that
it has caused a flap because it's been filmed from the perspective of political
liberals.
The head of CBS answers: "Well, No. 1, nobody's seen the film. So any criticism
. . . or a film that isn't finished, is rather odd we think . . . We've looked
at the rough cut, there are things we like . . . there are things we don't like
. . . there are things we think go too far. So there are some edits being made
trying to present a more fair picture of the Reagans."
MY TAKE: Seems unfair to me to pull Barbra Streisand into a controversy over
this miniseries just because her husband, James Brolin, plays the president. But
Barbra is handy at mounting her own defenses.
President Reagan, incapacitated by Alzheimer's disease, can't defend himself
from what is said to be an unflattering portrait. For instance, some say the
film has him denouncing AIDS sufferers, saying, "Those who live in sin, die in
sin." Reagan insiders say he did not, and never would have, spoken like that.
Nancy Reagan, played by the great Judy Davis, is reported to come across as
aggressive and harpy-like. Mrs. Reagan, consumed by caring for her ailing
husband, is probably not up to defending herself either.
Did CBS really have to make this tacky movie at this time?

Update
on the CBS Liberal Smear Film - The Reagans!
Matt
Drudge of the Drudge Report has seen the film and has filed a report on his
website. He called it on Hannity and Colmes Friday night, the worst
hatchet job of a conservative in the history of Hollywood. Check out his
report
here.
Check
out the contact information below to send a letter to CBS and Viacom to protest
this liberal revisionist slam as created by a good friend of former president
Bill Clinton, his old golfing buddy, Les Moonves, president and CEO of CBS
Television. He made the decision to air this fiction. What they
(liberals) can't accomplish in real life, they WILL make up. West Wing
anyone?

10-21-03 - New York Times
article on
"The Reagans"
Here are
some quotes from today's
New York Times
from the stars of the film, James Brolin and Judy Davis:
With the
climate that has been in America since Sept. 11, it appears, from the outside
anyway, to not be quite as open a society as it used to be," Ms. Davis said
during an interview at her hotel in Montreal. "By open, I mean as free in terms
of a critical atmosphere, and that sort of ugly specter of patriotism."
(Editor's note - 'That ugly specter of patriotism?'
Wow, guess we know where she is coming from.)
She added, "If this film can help create a bit more questioning in the public
about the direction America has been going in since the 1970's, I guess then I
think it will be doing a service."
Mr. Brolin said he, too, hoped that the film would prompt Americans to be more
suspect of their leaders. "We're in such a pickle right now in our nation," he
said, "that maybe if learn something from this."

It's
time to stand up America, and let these people know that it's not "ugly" to be a
patriotic American and we can and will refuse to watch their liberal propaganda
disguised as an historical portrait.
If you
are as angry as we are, we have written a sample letter that you can send
to the president and CEO of CBS Television, Leslie Moonves. Click
here to see
the letter and to download a PDF copy for faxing or e-mailing. If you email
it to CBS, don't send an attachment. Copy the text in the body of your
email. Most companies won't open attachments anymore.

Also,
please sign our form on the letter
page so we can
gauge how many people are sending in their letters. Let our voices be
heard!

10-20-03 - Drudge is
Reporting CBS TV-Movie on Reagan a Liberal Hit Job
According to the
Drudge Report,
the New York Times has gotten a hold of the final script of the Reagan tele-film
to be shown next month on CBS during sweeps month. According to the
report, former first lady, Nancy Reagan is portrayed as a pill popping control
freak and our revered 40th president, a doddering old fool who was
un-sympathetic to the Gay population with AIDS.
Once
again, liberal activists are showing their true colors. A revered past
president, loved by millions who is ill and can't defend himself is about to be
portrayed by the husband of super democratic activist, Barbra Streisand, who
recently said on Oprah, that she didn't mind her husband portraying Reagan, as
long as he "told the truth about Reagan." Of course, that would be her
truth. The president of CBS television is Leslie Moonves, is a longtime
friend and support of another former president, Bill Clinton. The
producers have also admitted to their liberal leanings but insist, this isn't
revenge but telling a good story in OUR honest sort of way.
Friends,
this is why we need Hollywood-Hero.
It's time to rise up, once again to fight back for our principles, our heroes
and Hollywood's refusal to accept that the rest of this country doesn't believe
in their view of the world.
Help us
today, Join the
Fan Club,
forward the site to your email lists, and let's continue the fight for morality,
honesty, and truth from Hollywood.
Believe
us, they will change their tune. If we stay home, if we don't watch, if we
don't buy what they are selling anymore and if they continue to denigrate our
most precious heroes and mentors, the message will be sent that if you aren't
fair with us and with history, your liberal activist projects will continue to
fail and face a huge negative bottom line and that's all they know, their bottom
line.
